another classic from the west end archives! forrrces keep on dancin from 1982 was a huge record across the board from bronx block parties to the paradise garage in nyc and dj harveys moist nights in london town, its popularity was bolstered by a fierce francois k dub mix on the b-side that stripped the record right back to it s most basic elements with a healthy dose of reverb assisted psychedelia thrown in for good measure! this killer cowbell led boogie jam has always been a big hit with disco freaks and continues to sound fresh some 30+ years later even making its way into veteran uk dj and music historian sean ps 100 boogie essentials 1980-1984 list. high praise indeed!re-mastered from original tape transfers, re-pressed and made available again for 2015 in conjunction with west end records, new york city.

roadside edits are back, their first 12inch was a very limited pressing, and it sold out faster than moonshine back in the prohibition days, so they have repressed it, and for good measure they have added their foot stomping edit moonshine on the a side, its a liquid disco funk hoe down thigh slapping drunken stomp, funky and slide guitars, the odd brass stab here and there, throw in a bit of organ with some chunky pianos, add some guy laughing and we are good to go. b1 gets going with a funky disco cosmic groover with some wicked wah wah guitar, strings, effects, cool synths and tight drums, all bound to get them moving on the dance floor. b2 groove is so infectious with some sweet harmonica solos, tight bass and soaring strings that lifts this track and the crowd to cloud

concept e25 is back! wax classic 15 sees concept e25�s third release on the label in the space of just a year! the demand has been overwhelming for more garage house hits with that added subtle, french flourish. we heard those cries, so here we have another slammin four track record from the man himself! the opening track of the ep, sing!, is destined for greatness this summer on dance floors everywhere. for me, this will be the go-to track of the record for most djs out there. on this track, concept e25 combines a pumping kerri style bassline with beautiful sustained chords, feel good vox cuts and the occasional sax line. proper hands-in-the-air vibes here! giving it takes the ep into a deeper realm, one that evokes images of late evening summer sunsets. however, the garage swing and signature concept e25 bass sound is still present. lies leads with moody chords before introducing a vocal that will be stuck in your head for a long time! again, we have a smooth sax line to accompany the vocal up to the track�s climax. rounding out this solid release is feel this way. here, the punchy bass hits are united with an acid line that bubbles underneath, before being unleashed halfway through the track in a warehouse-reminiscent burst of resonance.

refined selector and esteemed producer, steve braiden breaks out on his own with the off out label after some excellent releases for the likes of rush hour and joy orbison s now defunct doldrums label. its a good day when there is some new braiden productions to soak up, and hopefully the establishment of off out will see them appear with more regularity in the future. as an opening statement, apex of the sun s way is a powerful one indeed! the title track is characterised by the sort of rhythmic poise we have come to expect from a braiden production, with searing emotive textures rubbing up against some of the crispest drums heard this year. - solar poise- is equally memorable, with strange ghostly vocals trapped deep in the mix and an unpredictable synth careening around the channels.

wph kicks off 2015 with a new e.p. by the mighty luv jam from wales. living in a universe that is entirely his own andrew cole has cooked up two more of his �especially for wph�-tracks. one here at wph hq can only be flattered! �californian freestyler� is the more peak time burner of the two, but �bmx bandito� will not disappoint the more discerning punters out there either. on remix duty we find the main artist from our friends at uncanny valley in dresden, jacob korn. any work by jacob is always a treat and this here is no exception. flexing our digging talents we have also licensed a luv jam remix from the good people at panta rhei that was only released on limited 7�. we feel it deserved to be on a 12�, so there.

what do people like balihus daniel wang and royksopp have in common? they write nice things like this about our (not so) new talent kid on the block. polosh superproducer maximilian skiba! music from a very good young polish producer, warm chords, funky melodies, think bass and guitars by chic meeting a string section by beethoven, with a touch of italo-disco and almost flamenco-like soul daniel wang he produces very nice italo disco tracks, im a fan royksopp. shanghouse is an instant hit. i would say instant classic if this wasnt so daft and meaningless. if you just heard it 5 times and feel the need to put it on another time. thats shanghouse by max skiba. then theres a great remix by victor rosado and a great slightly diverse prins thomas edit of korsakot another track.

the km editions series, admirably helmed by the mysterious keyboard masher, has always been one of the more interesting re-edit/rework labels. past installments have touched on krautrock, disco, balearica, funk, italo and what can only be described as electronic oddities. this sixth volume offers up three more impressively remixed, overdubbed and reedited gems. theres naturally much to admire, not least the omd style woozy synth-pop of stolen shapes (stealing rework), which should tickle the fancy of anyone of a balearic disposition. the same can be said about the immersive, sun-kissed pianos and shuffling grooves of -astral playground. there s also a chunk of silly but, perversely, rather good french cod-reggae in the shape of le cod-, arguably our pick of a strong bunch.

release no.4 for the mysterious dense & pika. >who cares wins< is another slice of grimey warehouse rawness, the kinetic drums and synths combing for a peak time cacophony of sound. flipsides >morse mode< ups the tempo whilst still keeping the duos signature rough vibe whilst >crackling< rounds things off nicely, more streamlined than the previous tracks with a touch of dub techno thrown in for good measure.

the cat is out of the bag as two greg wilson summer festival exclusives are unleashed on the expertly curated and highly collectable a&r edits dj imprint. its label favourite peza who is back at the editing block for this release, reworking walking in rhythm, the 1975 classic from the blackbyrds, into a contemporary dancefloor scorcher. its instant familiarity is swelled by peza s additional drums and percussion - his complementary instrumentation, played live over the original groove, updating this feel-good sensation. pure morning was pezas favourite placebo track and so the required amount of reverence was paid when he sharpened the razor to bring it right up to date for 2014, and provide greg with the opening track of his glastonbury trilogy this year. a full, percussive rework accentuates its anthemic reach and a well measured dose of filters and effects nudge this new arrangement to completion.

havamal inspired briton will flisk takes his filmic approach to music to the streets with his first output on our curious little imprint. with the help of good friend black merlin (george thompson) on synths and drum machines and natasya hodges on cello, this amazingly orchestrated title track (red planet) takes us to different planets and back, even though our money is too short for commercial space travel. nashville, tennessees very own grey people (alex j michalski) works his distortion on a sinister remix (b1) thats leaning towards the more techno side of things. for the b2, will bestowed an amazing bit of roughness upon us.

with a limited 200 piece edition on vinyl -rüttelplatten- tries to catch the people on the danceflooor and also the regular listeners of modern electronic dance music. with -just before i leave- and -you- steve cole (swiss) & ronald christoph (berlin) provide the young label with two deep tech house smashers for a good start. label owner gunman does the remix for -you- and the spanish artist (living in france) eddy romero gives his interpretation for -just before i leave-. so these guys are just one part of the rüttelplatten family. the next members are already in pole position.

known as pantaleon perez prado, was the younger brother of the famous king of mambo. pantaleon, who came to europe in the 1950s, recorded several albums with unifunk. a powerful big funk band sound featuring: tullio de piscopo, mario rusca, paolo tommelleri, pino prestipino and others. for this second lp, the obscure vocalist don alfio had gained enough prestige within the band to share the top of the bill with the bandleader. that is probably because, in october 1973, the love child 45rpm (which has nothing to do with the 1968 supremes hit) had enjoyed a good airplay on supersonic, a daily italian public radio show that presented a lot of freshly released records. the djs explicitly credited the record to don alfio with perez prado. the reviving of chicago banana from escandalo!, plus many new tracks including circle, imperfect and the jazzy chato, gave the record a precise latin-funk attitude. bossanova evergreen bahia (also known as na baixa do sapateiro) and a synthled version of ciliegi rosa (cherry pink and apple blossom white) are the only two concessions to latin standards.

what a good feeling to be able to drop some fun words to introduce the next salon records vinyl release! a good year

a real thick baseline - a fabulous ep start. of the same title dragon fly comes along with dizzying, but best placed sound effects und a bashing buildup. we love listening to that great sound. neck breaker - not neck breaking but with a most impressive vocal and creative seeded sound expericence. makes us fancy for more like this. and bäms - the ep continues with a track called roll on. quite deep and initiated with a cool vocal - very british - the composition ist a bit more funny - a good mood sound creates an appetite for more. we are hot for the release on stylerockets.

roots for bloom label boss jamie trench kicks off the label offshoot rfbcolours with a collaboration ep alongside rebel. the a side tracks come from jamie himself. -good love- has a stripped back garage feel with a jacking and filtered vocal carrying it, then stapled brings things across with a more techno feel with strong stabs and background drifting chords. the b side is where we see rebel s input, with the rolling and infectious in the end . the groove is again stripped back and simple but it s this that carries the vocal that demands your attention. the two then pair up for we don t fly first class and it s apparent to hear in the track where the two come together well. this one is driven by a huge sub bass line and simple stabs and talking and seductive vocal lines.

top tier hawaiian disco boogie masterpiece available for the first time on 45. it took us 3 years to persuade nohelani cypriano to let us do *lihue* , a brilliant fairly obscure disco boogie track but if you are a fan and you keep trying your enthusiasm for the music pays off. not only are we are just delighted to present *lihue* on 7 for the first time (previously lp only) but to top it off the flip is a track from a very rare hawaiian 45 also by nohelani called *playing with fire*, which sounds like a party track straight out your favorite 80s film. i rate it, which means it is good! its like rare-groove scene all over again but with new records.

low-down and dirty jazz goes right back to the early 1900s in storyville, after the bands had played their hot tunes in the evening for dancing couples, the musicians would head off to the after-hours joints and play a less energetic but more bluesy kind of music, enabling them and their late-night audiences to get through to the early hours of the morning without suffering total exhaustion. and nobody in new orleans laid into the blues so low down and dirty as buddy bolden, whose funky butt became a staple in the repertoire of the citys early jazz bands.
jacksonville, florida, 1960. charles hungry williams mentors young clayton fillyau after he had just joined the james brown band: *i dont care where you put it on those drums, remember where 1 is and you ll never lose the time. listen to hungry on huey smiths *talk to me baby* and then listen to how clayton turns it into a relentless breakbeat on james browns *i ve got money*. earl kings *trick bag*, prefiguring the meters, is as good an example of early new orleans funk as can be found.
